Jaroslav TARABA

(* 1932)

He studied at the secondary school of glassmaking in Lednicke Rovnice. He excelled in drawing and painting. In 50s he began to work in Lednicke glassworks. He was trained by designer Karol Hološka. From 1972 he was the lead designer of Tatrasklo department, in the present called Rona.

During his career he devoted himself mainly to beverage and table glass, for which he received several awards, mostly abroad. Taraba’s designs has clear simple shapes, usually a thin walled glasses of various shapes and sizes.

Taraba is among the most important designers of domestic glass. He was one of the initiators of establishing the museum of glass in Lednické Rovné and also involved in production of historic glass for museum expositions.
